China Travel Service (NZ) Ltd. was founded in May 2000 as an overseas branch of the global CTS Group, soon after New Zealand was granted Approved Destination Status [ADS] by the Chinese government in 1999.
CTS has become a leading wholesaler, working independently and in a constant state of change, dedicated to serving both leisure and business travellers. The staff are passionate about showcasing their homeland, sending thousands of satisfied New Zealanders to China and bringing hundreds of thousands of Chinese visitors to New Zealanders over the past two decades.
Chinese immigrants and the Chinese diaspora have become emerging markets over the past decade.
Lisa Li, Managing Director started the company as the sole operator and has nurtured an executive team of travel professionals for sustainable growth in an evolving market by embracing technology including digital marketing strategies and social media that has contributed to CTS becoming one of New Zealand’s largest travel companies.
The dedicated team has been successful in embracing change while building mutually beneficial partnerships.
CTS has organised numerous official government and Chinese trade delegation visits to New Zealand over the last twenty two years as well as assisting NZTE and Ministry of Tourism to improve the quality of Chinese tourism operators in NZ.
We are the New Zealand representative for the China National Tourism Office and were the key organiser of many associated China New Zealand Year of Tourism 2019 events.
We were also the sole organiser of the “New Zealand Tourism Investment Summit” in 2016 hosting 200 highly qualified investors and travel trade to New Zealand for investment seminars in Auckland and Queenstown to assist with the government initiative to develop tourism infrastructure.
CTS has also supported Air New Zealand services since 2006 with industry training and have been a sponsor of the Auckland Lantern Festival for more than a decade and South Island Lantern Business Forum 2018 and 201
We have received numerous awards and recognition for our contribution to the travel and tourism sector including Lisa Li as a Tourism Industry Association’s New Zealand Tourism Industry Champion Award Finalist for three successive years, Winner of the NZCTA China Business Awards “Contribution to the Growth of Chinese Tourism Award in NZ” in 2017, China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism – “Outstanding Contribution to China NZ Year of Tourism 2019”, Best Branch of the China Travel Service Overseas Offices (past 10 years) and award from Chinese airlines for contribution to their growth.
The last few years have been particularly challenging for the travel and tourism sector, but CTS NZ, looks forward to a bright future as we continue to serve travellers from both New Zealand and China and ensure they can benefit from our extensive global network and our presence here in our adopted homeland.
