Our story in New Zealand

ALPHA GROUP HOLDINGS LTD

Alpha Group is one of New Zealand’s leading health and wellness companies based in Auckland.

The vision of Prof Gao and Alpha is to provide people with better lives through better health. To achieve this vision, Alpha has always had a strong focus on innovation backed by substantial research and development both in-house.

Over time strong relationships have been formed with organisations such as Callaghan Innovation, Massey University, Riddet Institute, and Tongji University.

In 2015 Alpha established the Tongji University Alpha Natural Medicine Institute in China, and the following year, the Alpha-Massey Natural Nutraceutical Research Centre in NZ.

Through Alpha’s own propriety research and development and by working with these organisations, Alpha’s strategy remains to develop and produce new and innovative products backed with strong science and technology.

Today, China is the largest market for Alpha. Alpha has invested substantially in China to establish a significant infrastructure for product and market development. In 2005, Alpha opened the Biotech Science and Technology Park in Fujian.

Sustainability is also important for Alpha and in 2012 Alpha established the Alpha Ecological Park in Gutian. This is a demonstration park for modern agriculture which provides some of the required raw ingredients, and at the same time, education for local farmers and suppliers.

From 2003, Alpha has made the “GanoPoly” range available – a range with Ganoderma Lingzhi, a well-known Traditional Chinese Medicine ingredient, as the core bioactive ingredient. Over the last 20 years, Alpha has continued to innovate new ways to extract this bioactive ingredient and to produce supplements which help people with a variety of ailments and needs, such as immunity boosting, lung health, gut and digestive support, liver & kidney support, etc

More recently, Alpha began to extend that innovation into other categories, launching new brands such as ENCARE, a range of serum derived bovine immunoglobulin products and KIWISO, a range of premium products sourced and developed in New Zealand.

KIWISO launched in 2021 with a full-on “NZ immersive and virtual experience store”, a WeChat Mini-store, and through sales to the Alpha member network.

Today the team at Alpha remain committed to Professor Gao’s vision and continue to invest in improving facilities and to use science and technology to develop products that will help people have better lives.

In one of Alpha’s most exciting developments, Alpha expects to complete in December 2022 the construction of a new facility in Auckland which, in a world-first, uses the innovative extraction and fermentation techniques developed by Professor Gao and Callaghan Innovation to produce the Ganoderma Lingzhi ingredient in Auckland, New Zealand.

During the pandemic, Alpha continued the commitment to social responsibility, by working alongside Auckland Foundation. Alpha donated to the Life Community Kitchens and the RaWiri Community Group to the communities’ soup kitchens. Alpha also donated PPE to the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR), Auckland University, Otago University and various communities and institutions during the beginning of the pandemic.

Moreover about participating charity activities, Alpha has also assisted China’s “Targeted Poverty Relief Project”, by providing plants, and teaching local villages to grow mushrooms, fruit trees as well as a “buy back scheme”, to guarantee the purchase of their crops. This all contributes to the philosophies of “Teaching a Man to Fish”.

Despite the disruptions of the last few years, Alpha looks forward to continuing to develop the strong relationship between Alpha’s operations in New Zealand and China and to further expansion into other key markets in Asia.
